Ethical Trade and Fairtrade

Midlands Co-operative Society has been an ethical trader since the first successful Co-op in Derby started in the early 1850s. With its principle of pure and unadulterated food, honest weights and measures the Co-op has changed and improved retailing in the UK and the world, not to mention other business practices.
This has been best shown by our commitment to the Fairtrade movement.
We also are committed to the Ethical Trade Initiative a national body whose members aim to trade ethically, their ultimate goal is to ensure that the working conditions of workers producing for the UK market meet or exceed international labour standards.
